Chicago Public Schools is offering $10 million over two years to fund mentorship programs for 3,000 of the district's most at-risk students, the latest component of an anti-violence plan meant to stem shootings among city high schoolers.
The district is seeking proposals from organizations to work in 12 neighborhoods across the city, and will disburse funds based on a variety of factors including a group's expertise, capacity and ability to track data like attendance, grades and in-school behavior.
So let me get this straight... CPS took over $30 million last year to help these mutts, and NOW THEY ARE TAKING ANOTHER $10 MILLION??? And all for what? So some hood rat savage trouble maker can get more free lunches, more free clothing, more free enerything? When will this vicious cycle end? Is this not doing more to enable these losers than it is to actually help them? Why should our hard earned tax dollars go to thses assholes? As off the wall and as much a pain in my ass as little Tommy is, he is not even close to being at a point of needing a Chicago government bailout! Thats what this is, THE GREAT CHICAGO PARENTAL BAIL OUT! Instead of minding your own kids, instead of raising your own kids, instead of disciplining your own kids FUCK IT! CPS has become a branch of government within itself! It answers to no one, it needs no approval, it can raise taxes with the stroke of a pen, has ZERO transparency, ZERO accountability, and is a FAILURE OF MASS PROPORTIONS! And that is not my opinion, folks, that is supported my the numbers. When I was a kid, you behaved because if you didnt, you ended up on the receiving end of a ass kicking... and if not at the hands of your parents, then the teachers, the priest or the local beat cop. And THATS why you behaved! Our idea of the bad seed was the kid who was held back a year, skipped gym class to smoke a pall mall, and snuck out at night. When we had a beef with someone, we had a good old fashion donnybrook and that was that. No one else got involved, no one else was on the hook for higher taxes, etc etc... Now, we enter willie b brown... willie b brown junior acts a fool and gets an ass whoopin and the parent is lookin to sue someone! No accountability, no discipline, never the shit head kids fault, always someone elses fault! And we, as a community, have to bear this cross... and to that, I say BULL SHIT!!! Call me racist, call me right wing nut, call me what you will, but to that I say truth hurts, dont it!? So, now, GET TO VENTIN!!!
Well said...first 30 million, now another 30 million all together....could have paid for alot of new police officers....wait, I thought CPS, the City, and CTA was broke?? They only cry broke when it's convienent to cry broke!!!
ReplyDeleteDaley's just buying off the "reverends" and "community" groups. Of course he does it with our tax dollars, but thats the Chicago way. Its time to wake and show these politicions who they work for. And screw the 19th ward and their democRATic handouts at the at the polling place.

ReplyDeleteThey are constantly rewarded for failing. Can't get a job ( never applied to one) can't get health insurance, can't eat or feed your family, can't raise your children, have no education? Don't worry, the government will pay, feed, care, and educate you. There are plenty of hard working American's who would love to pay more taxes and get very little in return who will pay for you. No worries if you have an arrest record or can only do math when dividing up drug sales. We will pay you! Bullshit! Vote Republican!
ReplyDeleteMore money into education less into social problems. All this money being poured into "at risk" children for many decades and its done nothing. Why does CPS keep doing it? Take away Link cards if they do not keep their kids in school with good grades.
ReplyDeleteIf the CPS was a business, it would have been shut down years ago for under performance. Instead, we just keep pumping more money into it. We are paying thousands to send our own kids to college prep high schools, all the while, paying to send kids to under-performimg public highschools, just so they can be asked to leave at 18 or 19 (as sophomores). Pathetic. I think it is about time the federal government steps in to take over the CPS, as obviously the local and state government can't make it work.

It's funny that the city/state will pay millions of dollars to perform studies on things that might actually improve city performance, just to ignore the results and then pay twice as much to fund bullshit programs that continually produce absolutely no results, if not negative results, guaranteed. ReplyDeleteAnother night of drunk, loud MT Greenwood teenagers. Sunday night at 1030, a large group in the alley between central park and millard on the 10300 block. Some then got in a car, others walked south on central park while others walked north. Stumbled is more like it. One dear was even standing under a street light on the corner of 104 and central park taking a piss. Again, where the hell are the parents? Don't they realize their darlings are coming home drunk again? On a school night? Why does it seem that so many parents stop parenting once their kids are teens?
ReplyDeletemost likely either a cop or firemans kids... they really think they dont have to follow the rules. My brother is a cop. he works in 016 for now, and he HAMMERS cop and fireman kids! He is trying to get back to 008 where he will continue to play no favorites! He duis a cop or firemans kid a week! He cuts ZERO breaks and locks them up just as frequently as a regular citizen. I cannot wait til he gets back down here. He and his partner are southside expats that will return, and when they do, look out spoiled ass brats! I just wish there were more like him! He doesnt target them per se, just gives them no play...to that I say ITS ABOUT GOD DAMN TIME! ps...before you start railing, he has kids and DEMANDS they get no special treatment...it's called parenting...maybe we shold ALL try it sometime!

ReplyDeleteWho cares what their parents do for a living? It is obvious whatever they are doing, they are NOT paying attention to their little darlings. Their kids are coming home shitfaced on a weekly basis and no one noticed? Are the parents nursing their own hangovers so they don't pay attention? I wish these parents, and I am sure many read this blog,would pay attention to who their kids are with, where they are, what they are doing and what condition they are coming home in. If you know your kid hangs out with someone on or near 103 and Central Park or wherever and you read posts about shit faced kids, how about checking on your own or will that interfer with your social life too much?
